A dodgy challenge by Steve Gerrard on George Boateng when he was playing for Villa sticks in my mind he went in two footed straight over the top of the ball and straight into Boatengs leg, they showed it in slow motion on Match of the day, Boatengs leg bent like it was made of rubber how it never snapped i will never know. It isn't the only time i have seen him make challenges like that either, and amazingly he isn't renown for being a dirty player.

The worst tackle I saw was in the 1982 World cup semi-final when the West German keeper Schumacher deliberately bodychecked the French player Battiston instead of going for the ball..I think he was knocked unconscious and suffered bad injuries and was stretchered off the field. I don't think Schumacher was even booked! I heard that the Frenchman did not harbour a grudge and even invited the German to his wedding!

Scotland v Uruguay, maybe 1982 world cup? Uruguaians all in Scotland half, Scotland get the ball and get one guy free. I can't remember who it was. The guy is basically through on goal at the half way line. Uruguaian defender gets close enough for a scything tackle from behind and manages to break the attacker's ankle. The most cynical of cynical fouls. I have no respect for people who play like that. Zidane, since you mention him, didn't play like that, which is why he still has tonnes of respect, despite his moment of madness.

The worst one ever, well forget about roy keanes, i know one which was a lot worse.
Neil simpson of aberdeen on Ian Durrant of Rangers in the late 80's
durrant was going for the ball and simpson jumped in the air and brought his leg straight through durrants knee, absolutely shattering it to like a million pieces.
Honestly you should try and find a picture of it or video of it, it is truly horrific.
And simpson has never said sorry.

Roy Keen on Inge Haaland. Not only was it a vicious tackle but Keen later admitted that he set out to hurt Harland.
