I work out (but stopped for a week, in case I had pulled something-although, I'm not sure it is a muscle thing-maybe kidneys?). I have never experienced this before and have tried to alleviate it (as I haven't been sleeping well). Sleeping on my side helps, but doesn't totally get rid of it. Putting a pillow under my rear helps for a little while, but usually, I end up just getting out of bed or sitting up, so it doesn't hurt as much. I don't really notice it during the day too much, but first thing in the morning, even taking a deep breath is painful and lying in any position is uncomfortable. Hopefully someone has some ideas, because I am tired!

May be your mattress if it is only when you are in bed. If it is too hard get one of those rubber foam egg crates. If too soft put a board under and then an egg crate on top. Or get a new mattress and box springs or whatever they are called these days. If that doesn't help see a dr. Good luck

Wow! Yeah u might need a new mattress. You also might have pulled a disc in ur back from working out or bending. Do you go to the chiropractor at all? If so make and appointment and go see him about it. If it doesnt feel better you might want to go see your regular doctor and get it checked out. It also might be your siatic nerve in your back that is causing the pain and there isnt much you can do but ice, heat, take some advil and sleep it off. But I hope some of this helps and good luck I hope that you find some ideas or help.

You could be dealing with a condition called Sciatica....it involves the sciatic nerve in your lumbar(lower) spine. The pain can come without warning..usually after lifting something heavy....or repititous bending movements. If the pain is located in your lower back.....and runs down the backs of one leg or both........that's probably what is going on in your case. Taking something like Aleve should help....and try using glucosamine sulfate....it can be found in any health store, pharmacy or variety store. Per your doctors approval.......i'd start with 1,500 mg a day for 6 weeks..then 1,000 mg a day for 6 weeks..then maintain 500 mg a day.....along with a diet restricting fried foods, & soda pop........and make sure your water intake is at least one gallon a day. gatorade, iced teas, or other drink mixes don't count........the water is what helps to improve the fluid in your tissues. Also.........use hot & cold compresses....15 minutes.....once an hour if possible. Use hot the first time..then cold the next time. The heat brings the damaged tissue to the surface........and the cold shrinks the swelling of the tissue. Sleeping with a pillow between your legs........folded in half......laying on your side.should also help greatly with the pain. Good luck!

as long as you don't have pain during the day, and only when you sleep, you probably need a new mattress. Change your mattress at least every 10 years. Lay on a mattress in the store for 10-15 min using different sleeping positions. Try several and make sure it is comfortable before you buy, as you spend a third of your life sleeping..

How old is your matress? My mom has kidney disease, you need to look out for blood in stool, fatigue, pain in lower back (all the time). If you don't feel the pain all the time, and not having other symptoms I would think you are just sleeping funny or need to replace your matress. Go to the Doctor to be safe.

Sounds like you need a new mattress! You at least need to rotate it. Turn it upside-down (if it's not a pillow top) and rotate it 180 degrees, and see if that helps. I sleep on my side, and when my hip starts to ache, I know it's time to turn my mattress.

Hmmm....get the kidneys checked.....this same thing was happening to me and it did hurt more to lay down then it did to stand. You don't want to let this go any longer.....the can get much worse if it is your kidneys. At least go see the Dr so they can give you a proper diagnosis.

While working out, you could has dislocated or rotated a vertebrae in your spine or you may have pinched a muscle or nerve. You should get checked out by a chiropractor.

try sleeping without a pillow under your head. it could be cause your spine to be placed in an un-natural postion. or you have a sagy mattress
