It's fine if you take the time to pick cosmetics that are attractive with your complexion and outfit. If you spend time obsessing on the subject, that would be inappropriate. We all spend some time each day being "shallow". Just try to make sure you spend an equal time focused on something bigger than yourself.

Ya know, you end up dealing with what you can handle and have to deal with. Yes, people are in turmoil, yes there are things that you can do about it. But wanting to wear make-up and making sure you look nice is something that makes you happy. If you sat around and only helped other people & never tended to yourself, you'd be miserable. Maybe get involved in some type of program that sends care packages to the soldiers in the war or something like that. Then you won't feel like something's happening and your not helping. This way you can make yourself happy on the inside (for doing something nice) and beautiful on the outside.
It sounds like your a good person anyway just questioning whether you should be happy while others suffer.

No it's not shallow. There's nothing wrong with being concerned about how you look. Guy's like women who take care of themselves. It's not healthy for you to think about bombs and stuff all the time.

Well, on one hand it is shallow when compared to poverty, greed, injustice and bigotry. You could make this argument about getting a haircut/style, going out to a restaurant, driving, etc. So it's good to think about this occasionally, but don't obsess about it.
However, it is not shallow when you think about presenting yourself as a professional and polite member of society. That is your goal, right? If you are target toward attracting as much attention as possible, then I'd say it's shallow.

No its not shallow, granted you could worry about something a lil more constructed, but why should you really have to. If you want to worry if your lipstick and eye shadow match your outfit, by all means worry about it. I promise you are not the only one. I do to. And if any other female condemns you for it and says it is wrong and that they don't do that, then they are lying.

I think the fact that you are even thinking about those people shows a huge amount of compassion. Most people don't even consider them.
If you feel that strongly about it, get involved. Go to one.org and sign up to see what you can do in your area.
That way you can help... and with eyeshadow and lipstick on you can look good while you make a difference! ;)

if you are constantly obsessed with how your makeup looks then it is a bit shallow. but if you spend 5 minutes in the morning to look presentable through out the day there is no problem. It also might be shallow if you spend a lot of money on makeup.

It would be shallow of you if you didn't contribute to the less fortunate. Like, maybe next time you are thinking of buying some new lipstick take that money and donate it.

No..It looks funny when you don't wear the right colors... and it won't accentuate your eyes or lips properly if you dont...
Any ways just because you thought of them makes you that that much less shallow then the next person

No, not at all. In this country if you don't have an excellent appearance you won't get the best jobs, etc. It still comes down to your welfare, not vanity.
