Is my ferret blind?

Question

I have a ferret that is bobbing his head around alot and doesn't walk strait. He even falls over on his side for no reason. He's eating and drinking his water great, but has a hard time keeping his head still to sip from his water dispenser. Could he be blind?

No, he probably has an inner ear infection. It effects their balance and can make their head tilt to one side, fall over, or spin in circles. He may even have a neurological problem due to an injury (brain damage). He could also have distemper, which is contagious! He needs vet care right away!

This causes, among other things, a cranial deformation in the womb which broadens the skull, causing the white face markings but also partial or total deafness and/or blindness. It is estimated as many as 75% of ferrets with visible Waardenburg signs are deaf or blind What color is your ferret? Also, if you got your ferret in a pet store and not from a breeder, there is a very good chance it is a Marshall Ferret, right? If it is, then the entire Marshall farm has been accused of accidental inbreeding, which (in ferrets) could cause several health issues such as blindness, as well as early weening and early seperation from the mother (which could cause stress and behavoiral issues, as well as health issues due to the baby not getting the needed nutrients from mother's milk)

He might be dizzy, i'd advise taking him to the vet
