If your ob did a D&C after your miscarriage, then you are NOT still pregnant. If it was a natural loss (vaginal passage of the products of conception), there is a slight chance that your hormones don't understand that you're no longer pregnant. Have an ultrasound to ensure that the uterus is empty.

As for the heritability of twin losses to singletons, it is highly unlikely that there is a genetic link. Lots of people will say "it's genetic" as a cop out, but this history does not ring a bell with me. Don't try to connect too many dots in the family history.

Good luck and please follow up with your doctor for an ultrasound if you still have the physical 'symptoms' of pregnancy.

So sorry for your loss. If your doctor told you you already had a miscarriage by seeing it on an ultrasound then that means no heartbeat or the fetus was already not going to survive. You may still have symptoms of pregnancy because your hormones still act as if you are. It takes your body a while to get back to normal and your hormones. I had 4 and even while having a miscarriage, a pregnancy test will still show positive because of the hormones. Back in the old days, they didn't have the technology today like ultrasounds and doppler machines for listening to heartbeats. The twin gene is genetic but your doctor would be able to see if there were twins. If one had a heartbeat, your doctor would know. God Bless you.

One thing you should know is that fraternal twins (the hereditary kind) tend to run on the mother's side of the family, so your fiance being a twin doesn't infer any increased chance of twins on you, unless there is a family history of fraternal twins in your family. (Novotny, 1994)
If you are still feeling pregnant, I would suggest speaking with your health care provider and possibly taking another pregnancy test. Good luck,

Did you mention this to your genetic counselor in your early appointments? Or to your doctor this past visit? I am not sure if this is something that can be genetic, I have heard of one twin not making it for health reasons. How far along were/are you. Did the doctor do an ultra sound to determine if there is another fetus in there? If not he should/probbaly will. You need to bring this up to him, if you haven't already. I dont think anyone here will know if it is or isnt...just go back to the doc. I hope the best for you.

Sometimes after a misscarriage it can take awhile for the pregnancy hormone to leave your body. If you provide more details I could give you a better answer. Most twins come from the mothers side, however it it not impossible for your man to carry the genes. I would recommend another pregnancy test ( a Blood one) and request a sonogram.

Sadly,if your doctor says you had a miscarriage,it means that nature terminated your pregnancy. If you think back, you will probably remember passing some tissue. That most likely was the unborn fetus. Get the doctor to do something called a dilation and cutterage. This will remove any tissue that may still be inside and help you to have a better chance next time.

It takes a little over a month for some people for their bodies to get back to normal. Did the doctor do a blood test? If not they you need to get a blood test done to find out what your blood count is. Give the office a call and find out. This is the most accurate and they will be able to tell you if you still pregnant.

Have you taken a home prgnancy test? If so and it is positive I would go back to the doctor and have them check your HCG levels...if they are still high request an ultrasound to see if maybe what you discribed above could be the case.
I did a quick search for Miscarring 1 twin and carrying the other to term this web site came up and it sounds a lot like what you are experiencing.check it out.
