It is very simple and when you have her on the floore she will think you are amazing.

Most people dance Slow Dance by swaying in place a few times, shuffling a few steps forward or around in a half-circle, and then swaying in place again.
If you (or your parents) have $20 to spare, you can always order an instructional video or DVD. I think they have overnight delivery. I have the DVD that I linked below. It teaches a couple different ways to hold each other, proper style on the sway, and then some easy steps the guy can do when swaying from side to side, such as turning the girl under his arm. The steps are very simple, and you don't need a partner to practice them.
Naturally, on the dance floor the girls are pretty much at the mercy of the guys. That is, the girl has to do whatever the guy dances. But a neat trick is for the girl to learn the steps and then pick out a guy who doesn't know how to dance and show him how to get up and dancing with some simple sways. The steps are so simple that they can be taught in seconds, and the girl can even lead without anyone noticing. Practicing with a video or DVD will give the girl confidence that she can show the guy properly.

Even if you never do the steps on the DVD or video, it's nice to actually know how to do Slow Dance correctly. It give you confidence that you're not going to be tripped up by any surprises on the dance floor, and that you can actually do the right moves if the opportunity arises.
P.S. For those of you who have never danced, you avoid stepping on each other's feet by offsetting a little bit. You stand so that the guy is looking over the girl's right shoulder and the girl is looking over the guy's right shoulder. That way, the guy's right foot is between the girl's feet and his left foot is outside (same thing for the girl). And in a close slow dance, the girl can lay her head on the guy's right shoulder.

Guys hold the girl's waist. Girls hold the guy's shoulders. You slowly step and turn in circles.
Seriously, that's how most kids slow dance.
To actually be able to slow dance (and dance for that matter, in a way other than grinding) is something teenagers don't seem able to do. *sigh*
Couples (dating or just for the dance) slow dance to be closer to their partner, to talk about cute couple-y things, and to show affection. It takes a lot for a guy to dance now-a-days, and this proves to the girl that he is willing to look like a dork to make her happy. Usually it ends in a kiss, but that's another story all together.

Just walk up to girl you want to slow dance with and ask HER to show you how it's done!

A lot of them like the slow dance because the music is calm and you can get up and personal with them. This may also be the time to ask her questions...Put your arms around her and slowly mover your hips from side to side. You may want to give plenty of smiles and eye contact. Have fun with it...

Okay for slow dances are you supposed to be talking to the person while dancing and gazing at him?? LoL and like how do you do close dances without stepping on their feet??? aah im so nervous cuz like the school dance is in like a few weeks!! And for fast dances how do you kno what to do?! LoL [gets super paranoid and worried] please give me some advice on this guys! lol

Just spin around and sort of step. These days, we don't really expect a guy to really know how to dance. It's a useless talent for a simple thing, if you ask me. Just walk in one place. Maybe enjoy the smell of her hair if you can't relax.

Move slow...very sexy....turn around and grind your *** on him...make it sensual and naughty but keep it grown and sexy...you'll be rewarded if that's the man you want to be with...a nice hand dance...steppers ball style...like they used to do in the 70's...the Tango is a sexy dance, too...incorporate some of that movement...the footwork and the way you move as you hold hands with the dips...truly awesome
