The car has 54000 original miles and in great shape, good battery, it started one time after I shifted the handle from park to drive and back a couple of times, I tought it was the neutral safety switch but that seems to be ok also, it was running perfectly when it was shut off, it doesnt seem to be sending any power to the starter, any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I have tried to start it in neutral, and all of the electrical components inside work (dome light, stereo, ventilation fan) and yes the car is old but I believe in taking care of cars and getting the most use out of them as you can, I think its rediculous to buy a new car because it is old and has a small problem.
Thank you to those of you who have given an honest effort to help!

Oh and the car does not have an anti theft device that I know of, there is no flashing anti theft light in the dash either.
Thanks again!

The neutral safety switch probably isn't ok. Unlike what some of these other idiots think, its not the spark plugs or the fuel injector. Give me a break. They have nothing to do with the engine turning over. Damn!

Oh wait maybe it's the blinker fluid.

The car has a kill switch connected to the starter and when the car has something wrong with it the anti-theft device comes on and disables the starter for about fifteen minutes. watch for the anti-theft to stop blinking and then it will start. It usually means something major is wrong.

Good Luck!!

After putting shifter in the Park position, try pushing and holding forward on the shifter while turning the key. If it starts, you may need to adjust the neutral safety switch.

i understand you'll attempt each and each and every of the glaring. examine for skill on the starter solenoid terminal even as someone turns the foremost. once you've skill, you may have a foul starter. examine the battery terminals. I propose actual eliminate them and sparkling them. in case you dont have skill on the starter terminal then examine the impartial safe practices change.

Well, assuming what you say is correct, sounds like you should check your connections down to the starter, then check the starter solenoid.

gee, I wonder why. It is almost old enough to have collector's plates. It doesn't take a 5 year old to tell you that you need a new car.

Get a new starter or a new fuse. If that's not it, you'll have to take it to a mechanic and have them disassemble your steering column.
