Babies walk on average between 9 and 17 months old. So, no, your son is *not* late. And if he is concentrating on other areas, he may walk *late*. My daughter took her first step at 17 1/2 months old because she was more interested in talking than walking, especially once she could crawl across the room and stand up when she got there. (She was early on all other gross motor skills.)

Some babies don't walk until they are 2, but are advanced in other areas. I knew a little girl who was totally toilet trained, and spoke about 50 words by the time she was 12 months, but didn't want to learn to walk until well after 18 months.

You should take your baby to the doctor and let them know that you are concerned! My son is only 6 mo. old and he's been wanting to walk for a while now, he even pulls himself up to a stand on everything and he then inches along taking itty bitty steps. My daughter tho when she was 6mo. old she still wasn't rolling over or anything. Throughout those 6 mo. I noticed that the older she got the further behind she was getting (I had one of those books that tell you what your baby should be doing at certain ages). So when I took her to her 6 mo. check up at the doctors office I told her doctor about my concerns and she agreed that my daughter should be doing more. So they started testing her to find out what was wrong, and when she was about 10 mo. old she was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and eventually developed sezure disorder! She's also been diagnosed with Cortical Visual Impairment! So take your baby to the doctor Because if there is something wrong, the sooner you find out the better.

I have seen babies walk anywhere from 9 months to 20 months and, while the norm is around 12 months, every baby is different and gets to each milestone at his own pace. If you don;t see any other areas of delay, you shouldn't worry. Your baby will get there soon enough and these months of waiting will fade in your memory. Just keep encouraging him and have fun with him!!

I have a five year old son and he didnt take his first step until a week before his first birthday, but the odd thing was that he never crawled. He didnt want to crawl because noone else did, we all walked so he didnt do anything until he knew he could do it right. maybe you baby is going through the same thing. If you get to worried ask your pediatrician, they can put your mind at rest or at least give you a reason.

I surely have a nephew that is 3 and a 1/2 that talks like your 15 month. My cousin has a 4 12 months previous female that ought to carry an sensible communique and speaks fairly nicely. the in basic terms distinction in my nephew and my cousin's little female is she has been going to daycare considering she became previous sufficient to flow. Socializing with childrens their very own age makes a wide distinction. desire that permits some. He ought to easily no longer be a large talker.

I have a son at 14 months that is only cruising on furniture and not walking. I am also concerned, yet i just going to let him develop on his own. If your infant is tall or big that could play a factor to, their center of gravity is harder to master.

My daughter will be 15 months next week. She did not start crawling until about 10 months (almost 11), which according to the books is late and is just now taking steps by herself. She is getting pretty good at walking but usually opts to crawl. It happens when they are ready!

Every baby is different, I walked when I was 8 months old, my daughter when she was 9 months old and my son is 1 yr old and barely walked, it's just like talking, he'll do it when he's ready. We pushed and pushed my son and he just would not walk, then once we left him alone he got up one day and started walking like it was nothing. Give him time and don't let people make you think soemthing's wrong because he's not walking yet, it's perfectly normal.

Was he born premature? This may be the reason why he is not trying to walk quite yet. If he was premature by more than 2-3 weeks, he may just need another month or so. If he doesn't start showing signs of trying to walk soon, you should probably ask your pediatrition.
