My father disowned me and my children for another family member. How do I get over this?

I have a cousin that come into the family again about 4 yrs ago. She has taken my roll as a daughter to him. He wasn't around for the birth of his grandchildren, but was there for the birth of her child. I live in Louisiana and he lives in Houston. He has turned this all around and blamed me for this. He says this is all my fault and that the big road runs both ways. I just want to deal with this and get on with my life. I have two beautiful children and need closure. Please help!!!!

forgive him that does not make what he did ok it just says you are able to accept that he is not perfect, but human. for if you can truely forgive him then thehealing can begin

to be honest-- you'll never really be able to get over this. this kind of stuff disrupts a person's life forever. it's just how the deal with it that truly matters.

he'll always be your father, no matter who likes it and who doesn't, but you never have to forgive him for this, especially for the way he's going about it all now by blaming you for everything.

if he doesn't want to see your beautiful children, that's HIS loss, not yours nor your childrens'. to be quite frank, your family is better off WITHOUT all this drama that your father has caused and could very well bring in. (more)

the only way you can really get closure from this is just accept it (which i'm sure you have) and just try not to think about it so much. you have your own family now and they need your attention and love more than anything. i think the best way to receive closure is to give your family-- especially your children, everything your father never gave you.

Seek His wisdom, and go ahead and forgive your dad. If you let the anger that he has let your cousin dominate the role you held, It will do you not one ounce of good. Pray that the Lord will turn your dad around to the one who he raised from birth and equally love the cousin that should never have taken your place. Love will conquer whatever intentions the cousin had. Have a heart to heart talk with the cousin, if you are able to. But the first thing to do is to Seek His kingdom and righteousness, the rest will be added to you by Him.

This sounds a little weird I have never known anyone to just give up on a family member like that flesh and blood and just adopt some one else! Let me say this though you consume more time energy and anger entertaining your father's ignorance. Secondly you have to ask yourself if your dad died today or tomorrow what would you tell him and really tell him what you feel. Lastly your children deserve a relationship with their grandfather and you should express that to him even though he may have messed up with you he owes them that!!!!!!

Don't let ur father get in the way of your happiness its hard not to need the love of your father but you also need to think about you and your kids and once your father realizes that he was at fault he will regret big time!

well it is not your fault, that your father is disowning you, it is something that he sees in you, and dont sweat it with your cousin, see will be out of the family, as soon as she makes a big mistake
