I thought this might be better since it takes sperm a few hours to travel to the egg and then you will be lying down so they dont have to work against gravity.

In reality, sperm last up to three days. the time of the day is not as important hour wise as it is that the sperm be present within the time frame that the egg is released and passes through the Fallopian tubes and uterus. Gravity is of little importance since the average vagina is 6 inches the average penis is about 5 inches and the cervix is maybe 1 inch. The poor fellows only need to swim a few inches and then they are home free in the uterus. They were designed to swim, laying down may make it a little easier, but the location of the egg at the time is more of an influence on how far they have to go, and thus how many will or won't make it.

Also consider this, it you are laying down, gravity is not working against them, but its also not pulling the egg down toward them either. Both are so small, gravity has little if any affect on them individually, however, if you stand up, and you leak out, some are going to find themselves released from the vaginal opening and down your leg.

by the time the man ejaculates his sperm will shoot to your uterus leaving semen on it so not point in worrying about gravity
