I have survived a colorful life and overcome several challenges to go on to obtain my masters in teaching for social justice. I am a success story against the odds and would like to share my experience, strength and hope as a motivational speaker, how do I get started?

I'd volunteer to speak at a few places first. Try carrear day at schools or at colleges. After you build up a portfolio a little and get good you could try to get an agent. There are agencies that specialise in speakers. Or you might make yourself a website and some promotial materials and send them around to people who might want your services. Good luck!

The short answer....get motivated!
Honestly, you might start by attending talks by other, well known and recognized motivational speakers. Personally I would tend to shy away from those "motivational speakers" who seem to have dozens of "how to...."commercials on TV every week. They are usually just trying to sell you a series of over priced books or CD/tapes.
Check out some of the local, non-profit organizations that offer talks by motivational speakers...churches, libraries (they post fliers), community service groups (Kiwanis, Elks) and yes, even AA. These groups might give you some ideas or direction on how to get started. Good luck.

If you are really serous. Then go to your local Radio Station or Call Make someone there aware of your goal, Or you could Find your Local TV studio and do the same, Best Be Serous because YOU WILL BE THAT MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER and Famous. Wish You Well on your Success

Write a book first.
It gives your credability. Even if you self publish.
Offer free lectures or seminars and offer your book for sale.
Until you get well known this is just about the only way to make an income in that feild.

Buy a van, and move down by the river...
For real, offer to speak at schools or groups in your area. Churches are always looking for uplifting stories.
