We just went for 1st sonogram yesterday, 7-8 weeks pregnant from time of conception.
Doc says no heartbeat and the sack doesn't look like it's forming well. Doc suggests we get a d&c next week because we are having a miscarriage.
Could there be a chance that the doc made a mistake in the reading or that we are too early in the pregnancy to know for sure? Should we wait longer? It is possible that there is still hope?

I think the baby's heart beat comes at about 3-4 weeks. The heart is one of the first things that forms on a baby. I think you should start preparing yourself for the worst. But remember there is always hope. Good luck.

You normally don't hear your babies heartbeat until about 10 weeks but they will be able to see the babies heartbeat on a sonogram. Most of the time doctor's are right. I would ask him if there was a way you could wait another week and then have them do the sonogram again and see what it says. Or you can go to another doctor and get another opinion. I hope everything works out for you.

Congrats! I am a 29 yr. old and I am 7 weeks as well. I went to the doctors today and they could not HEAR the heart beat as well yet she said the heart beat looked normal. I had a miscarriage in Jan. and at that time there was NOTHING. Don't get all excited take it easy. Things will work out for the best! If you think you need a second opinion use your heart I get 3 different ones at times because I had a reversal in Dec. and I get scared as well. Yet, I have 2 other healthy kids!

its *possible* that there is still hope but it doesnt' look good, no. Especially with your doctors comment about it not forming well. Heartbeats can usually be seen by 6 weeks. If you're not comfortable having a d&c yet, then ask for another u/s next week to be sure.. if you are really that early along you dont really need a d & c in my opinion. IF you are having an miscarraige you might just want to wait for nature to take its course. Sorry :(

There is still hope, the baby should have a heart beat though, a swishing sound to be exact. I think you should get a second opinion and then go from there. Ultrasounds can be misread sometimes or the machine can malfunction. Before getting a d&c get a second opinion. If you were miscarring, you would more then likely have alot of pain and should even be bleeding.

I heard my baby's heartbeat at 6 weeks, but there is still hope. It is possible, I think, that the doctor just didn't find the heartbeat. But you definitely can hear the heartbeat at 6 weeks because I did. I hope the doctor was wrong in your case. Good luck.

Why are you asking a bunch of people who can't even spell??
Ask for a second opinion from a real doctor, or believe this one.
Or actually read up on pregnancy before consulting a lot of teenagers who only know how to as & answer dumb questions.

Well, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but you can detect a heart beat that early. Actually, you can detect is almost immediately.
At any rate, I would get a second opinion just to make sure.
Sorry. Hang in there!
