If you are in a state where Bank of the West is located, they are great. Small town Banking in a large bank. Customer Service is number one with them. They have Free checking accounts, and saving accounts. They no longer offer x-mas accounts. But you are better off to put your money in a savings anyway. X-mas accounts only pay interest at the end. And regular savings accoounts will pay interest all year long.

A local credit union is a good place to have a x-mass fund.
I personally love my bank Arvest State Bank.
I have also heard great things about Washington Mutual. I do not have a checking account with them, but I have some loans and I do love their service.
