My husband and I put an offer in on a VA owned home last night and we have been told the VA has up to 30 days to decide what offer they are going to accept. Does it really take 30 days? If you have bought a VA owned home, how long did the process take for you?

This is a Va foreclosure, we are using a VA loan though. I know it will take 30 days to close if they accept our offer... but there are 4 offers they are looking at since the deadline was last night. I just wondered if they always take 30 days to decide.

For the offer to be accepted it may take a week or so but to close and have the loan funded it can take 30-45 days. The VA is very slow at this process but its worth it and the seller will understand. I hope this helps you but if you have any questions or need any help email me tadgeman@yahoo.com

Please check this real estate question. We make a low offer for a VA owned home. The VA policy is to let you know within 48 hours if the offer is accepted. The realtor calls the next day and says there were two other offers, and to make a "last and best" offer before 5PM. We make a higher offer and the realtor calls back and says the realtor listing it says the VA can work with our second offer if it's $1,000 higher. So I guess we just tried to beat the two offers, but we apparently did. But apparently the VA just wanted to see who was motivated by asking for a last and best offer. Do you think our realtor just made a mistake telling us they wanted a last and best offer since we did that but they came back and said if we offer $1000 they can "work with it".

My real estate lady says that it takes more like 45 days. We are in the process of selling a home, to people with a va loan.

Being a veteran, I know the VA takes its' time with everything it does. Have patience, I'm sure it will work out for the better.
