Rats are great! I used to have rats for years, untill I got cats.
Rats are very intelligent, fun animals to have. They are very clean and I truely believe they have a good sense of humor. They love to play and love to be with you. I took rats with me outside, one of them loved it when I was riding a bycicle. With her two hands out of my shirt and her little cute nose in the wind she enjoyed the rides. She was also clean when I took her with me mostly, when she had the chance she got of me to do what she had to do, and then climb back on me.
Really, if I would not have cats, I would definately take a few rats again.

I have a pet rat. I actually trust him more than I would a hamster. He's totally sweet, loves people, has no fear of people and is just the best little guy you'd ever want to meet. I only let him out to play in his rodent ball, but he is happy to do so and usually just goes and finds a good comfy spot to sleep. He begs for treats which he does get if I have a snack, and he samples what I am eating to make sure the quality is good. Overall the only problem I have is the fact I know he'll only live about 4 more years as their lifespan is only 5 years. But that is still more than a hamster which lives 3-4 years and more than a mouse a 2 years. but I do enjoy his company. he's a great pet for a small apartment.

Rats are surprising pets!! I genuinely have 3 men! they are so attractive and cuddly and relaxing to play with. they are extremely smart and wise! all of them know their names, and tricks, in addition they are shoulder experienced. they are the bestest rodents you'll get! They do want distinct interest although, an hour an afternoon a minimum of. that ought to even coated operating round your room even as you do homework! Thank goodness you suggested 2! appears like you've executed somewhat study. women are extra hyper than men, do not extremely opt to be cuddled a lot, they are extra adventerous. men are declare and comfortable, they are going to nod off on your lab and cuddle as a lot as you. they prefer a large cage, a muti-layer ferret cage is continually a great way too go. For bedding, in common words use CAREFRESH. Woodchippings ie. pine are extremely undesirable for his or her well being. they are distinct issues rats won't be able to devour. I suggust googling that.

I had pet rats growing up, they were great. I taught them tricks and they came when called. They love to go shoulder riding. However they will leave neat little poop calling cards and you need to clean there cage every week. Rats need attention every day and they only live about 3 to 4 years.

They're really good pets, you're right. They're extremely clean, hate getting dirty, and don't make noise.
They're really, really smart and they're pretty easy to take care of.
I think once you get a rat, there's really no turning back and you realize how great they can be. They're shown as dirty and sort of well, not very intellegent, while in reality they're the exact opposite. It takes a while to warm up to them, but they're awesome once you do.

rats are among the smartest of rodents.. i had a wild one in my house. MAN i couldnt catch it for anything!! it ate the dog food and the roots of my plants and the bananas. i bought a havaheart trap (the kind that doesnt kill them its like a cage that closes behind them) and that thing figured out how to get the bait without setting off the trap several times!
i wouldnt mind having one as a pet. i find them to be rather cute and they're trainable. they use them to sniff out land mines in africa. They say they're light enough to not set off the mine and their sense of smell is very keen. they're perfect.

Rats make awesome pets - especially if you live somewhere where they won't let you have cats or dogs. I had one all thru college and finally had to have him put to sleep when he was 4 years old - he'd had a stroke and lost control of his hind legs. He sounds a lot like yours - he'd come when you called him and was very cuddly. His name was Fink... I miss him!

I used to hate rats because of their thick tails. But now, I think of them as good pets, after all, they are animals and should not be discriminated!

I understand how you feel, when I was little and I told people I had rats, they'd either freak, or they'd tell me I was mistaken, and that I had gerbils! I love my rats and don't understand why anyone else doesn't!

rats are cool. they just have a bad rep because people associate them with the sewer and anything gross.
