I am not sure if i charge enough when i babysit. I offer to clean, tutor/homework help, dog walk, and cook simple meals, and most of all, babysit. I charge $7.00 an hour and $1.00 more an hour per child. Is that too much or too little? Put your self in the parents position.

depending on where you live...

I say just right as a student! they have to make money to pay you you know.. If you babysit a rich family. That is way too little!

If you baby sit in a middle class, it is about right. Because let's say they make 24 dollars an hour, 1/3 will goes to your salary.!

It really depends on where you live. I'm from Ohio, and 6-8 bucks is pretty good... I moved to NY for a bit and I didnt get anything less than 12 bucks.

Well lonleyyetfree.... People babysit because they want to make money... so the fact that you are gone for 5 hours and they only make 10 to 20 bucks isnt necessarily fair. I DO babysit for my friends who have kids and I dont charge them anything, but if you are trying to make money, then you need to charge more. it sounds like you should babysit a couple more kids and then you'll make more than 6.50 an hour

I am a single mother with two children. I myself only make $6.40 an hour so I think you are charging way to much. Most of the time I give my babysitter $10.00 to $20.00 dollars depending on how long I am gone and even that means I can only go out twice a year.

well i believe that you are not charging enough if it was me i would charge 15 dollars an hour and an additional 5 per kid so that is my opinion but do what you think is right because i am not you so i don't know what to tell you.

at that price it'll be a bargain. you could probably go up to 8 or 9 with the $1 per additional child. $10 is a good average to go by

I find that to be a fair price. However, how old are you? If you're a teen, I feel that is more than adequate; however, if you're an adult (and are relying upon this income to support yourself and are doing it full time), a nanny would charge considerably more, and I would recommend looking into resources that might give you that information.
