why does everyone think the rest of the world hates Americans....?

when it just isn't true. I mean, its far fetched to say that nobody dislikes Americans but it isn't only us.....they may dislike Croatians to or Italians or whatever. Most of the world (I believe) doesn't base the American people on what the government does because they realize that we have no control. As an American, I have traveled recently to Italy, Switzerland, Germany and (aghast!) France and didn't encounter any troubles. In fact they were all very friendly torward me, more friendly than strangers you meet here in the states actually. Do you think the rest of the world hates us or do you think that the media is just exaggerating?

I'm not bashing the US if thats what you think, just wondering about your opinion on this. Thanks :)

I have fortunate enough to travel the world mostly on business.. No one really hates Americans..They hate the Ugly Americans who go in a German pub and ask loudly for a Budwieser or those who act disgusted about local food or demand better hotel rooms, etc.I have never had an issue being an American in any foreign country..Except maybe Iraq years ago when my contact sat with his back to me

I been there,all 3rd world country. India, Africa ,Korea, China, Europe and Canada. I think the USA is the worlds best place to be. Yes we have Dirty politics and Dirty Mr. Bush. try to take over the World. But we have ASPCA that help Animals.Health cares, Homeless cares. Hospital would take us in to save us ,treat us first ever we have no Money. America is the BEST. I would fight and DIE for this country If I need to. Canada is good also. But for China People always say they have No Human Rights and Freedom..That's not true Thing we not sure we hear stories and The USA Governments always make stuffs up for the People In the World to See How they are. Like Iraq There is No Nukes there. I was there. America Like to Rule, How we take Blacks as Slaves back then and Suppress other 3rd World countries. But I live here, I love USA GOD Bless America .........

I was military for 34 years, and deployed to a wide variety of countries. Most other countries see Americans as arrogant, rich and uncaring, probably because the only Americans they see are rich tourists or us military. The rich American, and British and other countries tourists were arrogant snobs who acted like they thought they were better than the people in the country they were visiting. Frankly, a lot of American military are only out for booze and uh.....women for nefarious purposes. That does not give these people a good attitude toward Americans. Frankly, the worst treatment I got was when I was stationed in Canada. They were professional, but certainly not friendly as soon as they saw that I was American military. There was a great book, made into a movie starring Marlon Brando, called "The Ugly American". Good reading.

I have been going on the web a different new websites here in the US and abroad. It seems that the world does hate the US, because of what is going on the world. I like to believe that people in other countries do not dislike solely based on our government. Although, I have not seen anything to the contrary.

well, we don't really like your government, and the imperialism... american soldiers can do what evr they want in the world, includin' killing their foreign-friends without going to a jail. It is not because you are rich. Nobody hates Canada. But people in the US believe in whatever they read in their ignorant exaggerating magazines. It's a never-ending alarm! It's hard not to hate a president who thinks it's his personal responsibility to keep the rest of the world in line while he can't even manage the problems in his own country.

I think they do hate us. Ive done a lot of traveling and well.... they do. If you were treated nicely, its only because you were a tourist and thats just common hospitality

Because we use our military and economical power to make sure that only our agenda is addressed. In other words we don't care about anyone else and seek goals through force instead of giving-taking.

People hate ur President and the ppl in ur govt. who are all for bullying other nations and declaring war. I dont think they hate the common man. That wudnt be fair.
