It is on a par with watching paint dry.

Baseball is more boring than it used to be, but it is a great game.
The reason it's more boring than it used to be is because of all of the stupid little things that umpires allow to take place between pitches.
Batters step out of the batters box after every pitch, and go through their whole routine of adjusting every part of their uniforms. I know it's just done to annoy the pitcher, but the fans shouldn't have to sit through this.
Also, managers now are so paranoid about pitch counts, and getting the 'match ups' they want, that in the late innings, they bring in a new pitcher every other batter...
It used to be that the opposing hitters would let a pitcher know when he's through for the day, but now everyone uses pitch counts, almost without regard to how the pitcher is actually doing in the game... No pitcher has completed even as many as 10 games in a season during the 21st century... the last pitcher to complete 10 games in a season was Randy Johnson, who completed 12 games in 1999.
In the 60s and 70s, the league leading totals were in the high teens or twenties... from '65 to '72, the lowest league leading total in the NL was 24 complete games by Ferguson Jenkins in 1970... This first pitchers to lead the league in complete games with less than 10 were Tom Glavine and Dennis Martinez, with 9 in 1991.
Roy Halladay led the A.L. in complete games last year, with FIVE!! That's maybe a month's worth for a decent 60s or 70s pitcher...
So the worst things about baseball now are too many pitching changes and too much time between pitches...
Growing up watching the Mets, the games would start at 8:05 or 8:10, and would be over by 10:30 or so. You could play a game in 2 hrs 15 min or 2 hrs 20 min... Today, it's just about impossible to play a game in less than 3 hours... It never fails on ESPN... you turn on ESPN at 5:00 to watch Around the Horn, and the game that started at 2:00 is only in the 7th or 8th inning... then you get the scroll at the bottom of the screen "Around the Horn is now airing on ESPN2":. So predictable...
Umpires should not give the batters a time out just because they ask for it... once you step in the box, it SHOULD be time to quit screwing around and play baseball.

It's not. It's a great game that actually involves thinking and is exciting unlike the Hillbilly sport of NASCAR in which the drivers drive around in a circle for about 4 hours.
And the only good Football is Arena Football and College Football.

Baseball and Football are my two favorite sports, you clearly don't understand the game. To me there's nothing like going to Fenway Park and taking in a game, and drinking ice cold brews!!!!! There is a lot of strategy involved in baseball. Take in a Red Sox/Yankees game....talk about excitement and passion. I don't think "boring" would be the word that you would use.....
Go Red Sox!!!!
NASCAR racing....now that's boring. Cars going round and round in a circle for 4 hours, what's up with that crap????

Because you have the attention span of a gold fish. Baseball can only be apriciated if you havn't rotted your brain by watching 12 hours of television a day. The game isn't boring, you just don't have tolerance for anything longer than half an hour unless it's jam packed with violence and crudity, Silly Boy. You dont like it, don't watch it!

Then why are you posting questions here with people you KNOW to be baseball FANS? We know the game, we know the strategies involved, 99% of the people here would NOT agree with you that baseball is boring. Baseball is paced leisurely, enabling you to follow and second guess the manger. It's a beautiful game full of symmetry. If you find it boring, then you don't understand it...
And we can't help you...

You think it's boring because you don't understand the intricacies of the game. It's a sport for subtle, thoughtful people, and it's not for everyone. I'm sorry you don't get it, but if you don't just turn it off and watch NASCAR.

#1) You don't know the difference between 'KNOW and NOW'.
#2) You won't enjoy Baseball if you are too impatient.
#3) If you don't like Baseball, why are you posting questions on the Baseball category?
Just sit back and enjoy the game and,
If you cant do that,
Your out of luck there's no game more exciting than baseball!!!!
