Female bettas come in many different colors, but they lack the fancy fins. Like many other species, the males are more flamboyant looking with their long, fancy fins that are mainly used for display whether for attracting the female or territorial dispute, which is also why two male bettas should *never* be put together as they will literally tear each other apart. They are also known as the Japanese Fighting Fish.

Female betta have the same colors as the males just not as intense. Also most females in the store are there as they aren't colorful (Thus bad breeding stock.) My current females are all red, and blue. I've had a white female in the past as well. More so than males I find diet influences their color. A good betta food like freeze dried brine shrimp, or blood worms will bring help enhance their color. (This doesn't help ones that don't have much color naturally.)

Female bettas, come in the same variety of colors as male bettas. They don't have the long flowing fins, that the males have. Their fins are quite small
