I just bought a Sony Handycam DCR-PC1000 and will be using it to record skydives (jumping with it), I want to dump the video on the computer and use the software to edit the jumps and make a movie.

You can never go wrong with Nero. If you can foot the $80 bill to get the Ultra Edition, it will be well worth your money if you do a lot of audio/video work. It does everything, and all it's programs are accessible from an easy-to-use Smart Start menu. It's so easy, even skydivers can use it! Just kidding. Good luck and godspeed.

I would go with Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 or Sony Vegas + DVD, because those are the two programs I use. I also have the DCR-PC1000, and I use the Sony Vaio PCG-FRV37 Notebook for editing the footage.

nicely, you'll get a valuable video enhancing application for any type of pc. that's purely that it's going to accomplish in a unique way on each pc relying on the specifications. i'd not recommend Picasa because it takes up a ton of memory on your pc. So, you're pc is amazingly going to run slowly. I downloaded on my Toshiba workstation and Norton got here up with a extreme memory utilization so I checked in the interest manager and it replaced into taking on ninety seven% of the computer. relying on what you want to do, you could try living house windows action picture Maker. it really is a loose application and extremely tacky. that's not a specialist application in any respect. once you're purely searching to characteristic some transitions and some captions, that's acceptable. in the different case, i'd recommend some thing diverse. you could also use Adobe Photoshop. that's not loose, although. that's about $500. i don't know in case you would opt to spend that type of money once you're purely going to be making some tacky videos. till, you may be making videos that want distinct outcomes in them then i'd recommend that you try Adobe After outcomes. it is also not a freeware application. that's about $500-$six hundred. good success!
