I am so thankful you found that! I have been looking all day. ;)

If you are certain it belongs to someone elderly, why not contact some of the local organizations that provide support for the elderly, and ask if they know of anyone who has mentioned losing an important envelope. Someone may know something.

You can't put a price on integrity.

Take it to the police, explain the circumstances. Ask them to hold it and return to original owner ONLY if it is requested with precise description. Get a receipt.

If within two or three weeks (you decide) it hasn't been claimed, make sure the police will allow you to pick up the whole sum as YOURS.

On the one hand, you want to do the right thing if it's really going to leave a person in need out on the lurch.

On the other hand, if it's simply drug money or similarly ill-gotten gain, it's yours to put to good use.

WOW! don't take it to the police! the victim won't see it and you wont' see it. Ask around the neighborhood if anyone lost an envelope recently, if someone turns up, don't hand it to them immediately, ask what was inside first, if they tell you the exact amount then they are the rightful owners. If no ones turn out within a month keep it.

Put up flyers int he area of where you found the envelope. "Found: Envelope with valuable contents. Describe envelope and contents to claim." Put down a way to contact you (use an email or a business phone or even an email) and see wha thappens.

When you turn in such things to thepolice, if it is not claimed in 30 days you get to keep it. This is also a way to keep from being identified shoud themoney come from "shady" background.

If someone has that much cash at once it probably has to do with some illegal/shady business. Or they should know better like the rest of the population to put it in a safe place like a bank. Or got it out to pay cash for a new toy, they dont need it anyway.

First contact the police department and tell them about the money and where you found it. Sometimes they can help with letting businesses know that someone has lost money and if they come in to contact them or you * the business contacts you* if the person can descibe everything to a tee then you know that it belongs to them. It is not yours and know that giving it back that God will reward you much more in return for being honest. God bless you in all you do.

Then how are you to know who it could belong to? Any open area KEEP IT, Please don't be like some people and GO TO THE POLICE STATION, Now if you do not need it just reply back to me because I can USE IT, THANK YOU,

Hang fliers up in the area that you found the money. Just say found money contact * at * to claim. When someone calls ask how much they lost and what it was in. If no one claims it in thirty days it's legally yours. Do Not Take it to the police or it will no longer be yours if nobody claims it.

1. It could be counterfeit.
2. You could take it to the police.
3. you keep it and spend it on stuff for you.
4. find the old guy and give it back.

Depends how much you need the money. I think I would keep it, I know that sounds bad, but, I need the money.
