Save jars (mayo, etc.) and when the grease cools down, poor it in the jar - put the lid on it and throw the jar out.

Never throw grease in your sink - it clogs up your drains - use the trash can.

You can throw it down the sink but it's tricky because it can clog your drains
So if you are put detergent, hot water, and if you have any left over lemon, lime , or orange peelings use that too
but if you don't want to go through all that hassle stick it in a big plastic ziploc bag and throw it

I'm lazy... i run the hot water for a few minutes and then pour the grease in the drain slowly, and keep the water running for a few minutes afterwards.
I know its better to keep it in a jar but I rarely have that much grease so it takes too long to fill a mayo or peanut butter jar.

I throw it in a container in the trash can. It contaminates the soil in the landfill but doesn't clog my sink drain.

Sure you can run hot water and get the grease from your house lines, but that grease has to end up somewher. Usually it flows to a lift station where it causes all kinds of grief to the wastewater operators. (I used to be one) Multiply your one small pan of grease times several hundred homes and you get the picture.
These days you can collect it and turn it into bio-diesel.

You shouldnt throw it in your sink, it could eventually clog your pipes. Let it get cold and then throw it in the trash.
