I am. Some people simply have skin that resists tanning. I could wreck my skin trying to get a tan, and I'd still not be much darker. I've spent over a thousand dollars treating burst capillaries with lasers and creams caused by sun exposure, and I get a rash on more sensitive areas such as my neck/chest and back on my legs within ten minutes if I don't wear good sunscreen, but yet, I get told that I would look so great with a tan, and I need to go to the beach more. Grrrrr! People need to accept that not everybody has the same skin type, and that they are all equal. It's akin to racism, really.

I tried to tan when I was in my teens.... big mistake. I regret every moment that I didn't use sunscreen. I am now very comfortable with my fair skin. Most of my friends tell me they love it - and besides, it's not like I have a choice :)

All skin tones are beautiful -- you are made the way you are for a reason. My dark skinned friends don't try to be lighter, so why should I try to tan? And no, I don't like the fake stuff. The last thing I want is to look orange like Paris Hilton.

OMG!!! I used to be so, so pale!!! I am naturally one of those black haired Irish with very pale skin. (Though my hair hasn't been black since I was 15) I went to a club one time and I had on a short skirt and the DJ, who was a friend, got on the mike when I came in and said, "Hey check out Lisa's legs! You have the whitest legs I have ever seen!" I was so embarrassed!!! I immediately started tanning (talk about insecure) and believe it or not I became very tan. I don't know how because I was very pale and did not tan at all in the sun. But somehow, through perseverance, I eventually got tan. Now I am so tan it will never fade. I went over a year without tanning and I got lighter, but I didn't go back to pale. Must be damage. However I do not look old and shriveled like you would expect. People still think I am about ten ears younger than I am.........it's nice.

You are the one who needs to be the skin color you are and want... remember it is easy for other people to talk but hard on onself... anyway, if you are interesed in getting a tan, use botanical based products ...The rays from the sun: UVA and UVB.... UVA is the one that destroys your elasticin and collagen (the same ones that when we grow older they start the diminish the production) and this is what makes the 90% of aging signs and the tanning slons have these rays. Also the UVB is the ray that burns you and contributes to skin cancer. What you need are products that help you get protected form both rays and always try to avoid the SPF over 30 because these will cause your skin to get irritated. I use these great products that help me get a nice tan (fake tan called made in the shade) , they also have great sun protectors for everyday use and water resistant, and they also have a tan enhancer that makes your tan last longer....you could find them in this site, at the left margin look for BefoRE Sun and you will find them .... http://arbonnepuertorico.myarbonne.com ... the best part is that they have ingredients for anti aging.... wonderful...and the hair protectn is just divine because it also works like a detangler..... and you could also use the "chap stick" they have to protect and hydrate your lips .......

Oh I thoroughly agree. I am pale and people always make comments. I did go tanning before, but only a few times because I was worried about my skin and thought it was kinda dumb. One good thing is sometimes people say I have beautiful porcelain skin, but I usually get the same responses of "MY GOD! We need to get you some sun." I just laugh it off, but secretly I curse them. Yes people don't understand the fair skinned ones in the world. Most of my friends will complain how pale they are and then I hold up my arm to them and say "feel better?" and they're just like "oh yes I do." My nickname has been Snow White since I was little. (I embrace the snowy whiteness and it works.) Good luck with the sun this summer!

I agree with you. It is irritating to hear my co-workers ask me when I am going to the tanning salon. I don't need a tan to look nice. If I want my legs to be tan, I'll wear hose. Honestly, I tan nicely, but I simply don't want to. I don't want to look like a hired field hand. I think people that are naturally tan, are very pretty, but you can always tell if people were born with it or if they were in the sun all there life. What are these people going to do when they are older, and so wrinkled from the sun? They will look at you and say, "Gosh, I wish I hadn't spent as much time in the sun. I wish I was pretty like you!"

I am naturally fair too. My body does tan but my face really doesnt which is kind of strange. I use fake tan stuff, go to a makeup counter in a department store if you want some color.

Hey, don't worry...pretty soon us fair-skinned beauties' white skin will be back in style and the naturally tanned ones won't have any way of getting their skin lightened! HA...and then when we're all 60 and they look like they're 80 and we look like we're 50, we'll be the ones laughing!!

purely positioned on lengthy sleeves outside and do shop on with sunscreen lotion or sunblock(inspite of) and believe me it really is necessary. shop on with a lot, not purely a teaspoon or stuff like this. do not go out in the sunlight, rather good sunlight in a lengthy time period, if achieveable. Yeah.. and the necessary stuffs, umbrella would help too. do not doubt because it does wonders. And it ought to help you because you suggested ''evidently''. for sure, there are quite a number of kinds of cream outdoors the position they state that it ought to help you and stuff...certain. good success!!

i really do hate it...

it's hard to feel good about yourself when it seems people don't like pale-ness all that much. and it's not something that's very changeable. sort of depressing sometimes.

i used to tan, but i gave up because i don't want to age my skin like that. i'm still not happy with my pale skin, and i think i was more confident in my looks when i was more tan.

ugh.

keep your head up, you aren't in this alone haha :)
