Being a lawyer is a fine profession. I personally would not wish to be one, but you should make a compromise with your father. If he gives you your skateboad back, you will read lawyer-related documents and books for at least 3 hours each week or something like that. Or, you will help him with his business. This way you get to skateboard AND learn about your father's career. This way, if you don't end up being a lawyer, you'll be justified in your decision because you experienced and learned about it. You just found that it wasn't for you. Your father can't possible ask for any more.

have you told him you want to be a skater or something?
Ask him if it would be OK for you to be a Doctor instead. If he says yes then you can reason with him about what you want to do. Often our parents only know their own professions so they guide us to them. There are other things you can do that are as good as being a lawyer. Actually a recent poll shows that lawyers are low on the happiness scale.

Certainly he has some other reason for taking your board away. Did you do something you are being punished for? I wouldn't worry about a career right now. Like you said ... you are only 13 and it is the SUMMER! Good luck to you
