where can I get microsoft word for free?

Don't get Word, it is proprietary and subject to the random whims of Microsoft. You also cannot (legally) get it for free, and it doesn't support the open document format.

My recommendation is OpenOffice.org. It has all the same tools as the Microsoft Office Suite, its free, and it can save documents in the format that Word can read.

Get open office.

Basically the same as Word, Excel etc and reads each others files and best of all free and legal.
