I am not sure if i charge enough when i babysit. I offer to clean, tutor/homework help, dog walk, and cook simple meals, and most of all, babysit. I charge $7.00 an hour and $1.00 more an hour per child. Is that too much or too little?

I think you should charge depending on what you do. You may offer all of these services, but do the parents have you doing all of these other chores? Offer your services - but let them know that depending on what they have you do, determines your hourly pay / or flat charge for that service.

Feeding the children and helping with homework are included in babysitting (that is if you're a good babysitter) but walking the dog and cleaning are not. If they asked you to do these things it might be different but you offer and that's a different story. Day care would cost them a lot more but I think what you charge is fair to the parent(s) and yourself. Even $1.00 more would be fair.

Depends...what are your credientals? Are you certified in CPR? Do you have a degree in early childhood education? These things can raise your rate.

Add these credentials in to what you described and I'd be willing to pay $10-$12 an hour.

It also depends on where you are. If the cost of living is low and people's salaries are lower then you can't charge as much.

Charge extra for tutoring or homework help.

Charge extra for cooking.

Charge extra for cleaning.

These are skills that are not usually part of babysitting.

It depends on how long you baby-sit if its just for 2 hours charge a flat fee now if its for more than 4 hours then its ok.

Too little.

I'd charge at least $10 a child.

sounds like fine pay to me. If I left you with my daughter for 3 hours, that would be $21. I'd be wanting to give you a $20, so you are right about on target.

WHERE I LIVE THAT IS ABOUT THE GOING RATE. I DO BABYSIT FOR A COUPLE OF PEOPLE WHO PAY ME MORE.

MY LOVE OF KIDS IS WHY I DON'T CHARGE TO MUCH & I ALSO REALIZE THAT THE PEOPLE THAT I WORK FOR HAVE OTHER BILLS TO PAY.

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK.
