Both the Exorcist and the Exorcism of Emily Rose are based on actual events, the Exorcist is based on events that happened to a young boy and of course the story has been drastically changed, the Story of Emily Rose is based on a young girl in Europe but it happened along time ago. Hollywood lures people in by saying it is based on a true story, but they fail to tell you that only the idea of possession is and not the actual events.

Apparently it was based on a boy who had a demon in him. they just changed the boy to a girl. I can't really remember the full story but apparently in the end st micheal took control of the boys body and said something and the demon left his body. I think I read that on the official exorcist movie web site.

they say it was based on a real case but it was so long ago in like europe. noeone really nos. she could have just had mental problems.

Both are "loosely" based on actual events. Just like TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE was based on actual events. Doesn't mean much.

in reality, it was a boy who had all these pleasant experiences.while he was trying to communicate with his dead aunt,you know the rest of the story.
