Since I work at walmart here's some info.

Don't let them give you a position as Cashier, ICS or Recieving(unloading)

Make sure you've held a job for a decent amount of time or you aren't going to get paid much.

Oh and about 75% of the positions that were listed above by that other guy, those aren't even reachable.

You're going to be limited to something like....

ICS
Unloader
Cashier
Automotive
Sales Associate
People Greeter

Best to go with sales associate for starters.

If you start as a Cashier, you'll be stuck up there at the registers forever and you can easily get fired.

ICS pretty much does the manager's dirty work. Moving and lifting heavy merchandise, cleaning, stocking... It sucks

Sales Associate you'll be assigned to a certain department (sporting goods, toys, furniture, pets, chemicals, ect) and it's not that bad for a starting point. After 6 months you'll be able to switch to something new.

Expect to get hired somewhere around 6.50 - 8.00

You will also get a 40 - 50 cent raise after your first 90 days. Then you'll get another raise every year after that.

I'm a Bike Assembler and I love it. Easiest job in the world. As long as you don't get stuck with a crappy position, Walmart is actually a good place with great people. I've worked there for a year now.

I commend you for being motivated enough to get a job, but why don't you work on interview skills or polishing your resume instead of worrying about fortune telling? It'll help you get jobs in the future too, regardless of whether the Walmart job works out or not. And if they don't hire you, ask about any other positions they are looking to fill or start searching for a different job.

OH Walmart, well they have the kind of jobs that take the spirit right out of you. If your not concerned about your dignity or your future then I would say to run down to walmart immediately and sign up you'll get right in .

As a former "associate" at WalMart, I beg you not to join the soul-less cult. Seriously. Anywhere else but there.

You should go online and see what they say. I'm sure it varies form store to store and season to season.
