That's the spot where I got my first tattoo. It feels like a slow, very deliberate cat scratch. That's exactly what it feels like. It really wasn't that bad. The worst part was when he pulled my skin tight and tattooed over my hip bone. That was the worst. But it's nothing to cry about. I say go for it! Some tattoo shops have topical cream they can put on your skin that numbs it. I'd see if they have that before you start. If not, and you aren't sure if you can take the pain, check around until you find a place that has it in case you need it.

Any tattoo is going to hurt-especially if its your first one! It depends on what your pain tolerance is. Luckily, that spot shouldn't hurt too bad, unless you are nothing but skin and bones! Places like your ankles, lower back, wrists, etc hurt the most because the vibrations from the needle bounce off of your bone. Any good tattoo artist will do a test line on your first to make sure you are ok with the pain, and you can always ask to take a break at anytime during the tattoo. Best thing to do is bring a friend along so you can squeeze their hand!

I got one in January...it's a shamrock...on my right side. The outline hurts the worst. Some of the coloring in hurt ...(I have two shades) the second shade hurt more than the first. It's not terrible. The tattoo artist said it was one of the three most painful spots, but I didn't think it was too bad. Depends on your pain tolerance...and if you have a problem with needles (I don't.) Good luck!!! I love mine.

A - yes it will hurt - however there aren't as many nerve endings there (for pain) as there are say in your hands -
so it will hurt but not as much as it would in some other places
I would worry about weight gain and loss in that region, stretching and stretch marks could make for one UGLY tattoo

All tattoo's hurt, but just think if you were ever to get pregnant how ugly it would look once your belly goes back down. Or if you have a c-section they might cut right through it.

It won't hurt too bad. Why would you want to desecrate your body though?
