Marriage is a religious ceremony: the answer to this is up to the two gay people, their priest, and their deity(s). I have no idea why this isn't regarded as a freedom of religion issue: what right does Congress have to say that the priests who won't marry gay people are right and the priests who will are wrong? It's a clear violation of the separation of church and state: Congress is siding with some religious groups against others.
What I think Congress needs to do is get the law out of religion: go through the entire legal code replacing the word "marriage" with "civil union" and "spouse" with "domestic partners". The only political issue that Congress should be considering is "Is there a good reason to allow different-sex domestic partnerships but not same-sex domestic partnerships?" To which I think it's blindingly obvious that the answer is "No, that would be senseless duscrimination".
Leave the question of marriage to the priests.

I read most of the answers... I don't think they are being honest!
No, Gay's should not be allowed to marry. why? ask your self even if you are not religious.... is it natural? look at the earth and animals, what happens when you try to mix one breed with another, or look at the bees, namely African bees the results were UN-natural. it was not meant to be. We as human beings try to change the natural order of things and we end up creating chaos

I think that they should be allowed to do anything they want. Just like heterosexual people. It shouldn't matter. I have no idea why everyone treats people differently just because they fall in love with someone and the relationship is different. It is nobodies decision except theirs. Nobody else, I think, should get a say in it.
