I don't understand your question. Is the raccoon close to your house or in your house? You said you want to get it out.

If it's inside your house, call animal control and make sure they use a live trap and will release it to the wild. Don't try to pick it up or corner it, or don't set a dog after it.

If it's outside and not doing any harm, leave it alone. Who's it bothering?

I don't understand why you are so frightened of a raccoon if it's keeping its distance from you.

Raccoons are very intelligent. They can get big and they can bite. It is not normarlly an aggresive animal but if they feel threatened they will defend themselves. They got sharp claws too.Raccoons are meat-eaters, plants eaters and garbage can raiders. One suggestion to keep the raccoons off your backyard is to raccoon proof it. Maintain a well secured garbage can or compost pits or garden. Raccoons don't like strong smell. Napthalene balls or ammonia can help. Spead ground cover with napthalene. Make sure the napthalene ae safe from kids too. Then cover some entrances or openings in the house . Stuff a rug or board it up. Then tie up garbage can lids well.

The raccoon will not harm you unless it feels threatened, the best way to encourage it to leave is to make sure to keep all garbage and any potential food sources away from your house...when it sees that there is no food to be had it will leave on its own, raccoons are not evil and vicious but like any animal will defend itself and its young when threatened. If the raccoon exhibits any behavior associated with rabies like foaming at the mouth and trying to attack you without reason then contact your local animal control. Trust me though it isnt as bad as others have made it out to be I live in Northern Ontario and I often get raccoons in my yard and I have approached them very close they wont attack you they will more likely climb up the nearest tree and wait for you to leave...just remove all food sources like bird feeders, garbage, vegetables in your garden, ant traps (which they try to eat) any standing water which also attracts them, garbage, compost piles with food in them like veggies etc, any pet food you may have outside and the raccoon will leave the area.

A raccoon will bite if he's scared or cornered.

Frankly, a raccoon is not the worst trespasser you could have. At least he washes up before eating.

Raccoons are nocturnal, so get a bright flashlight if you plan on chasing him.

This racoon can be traped. Build or buy a trap from your local hardware or farm supply store.SET it up in your yard and put some kind of food in it,the coon will go in after the food and the trap door will close.Do not tray to catch it ,it will bit and claw you.Use heavy gloves to handle it. I hope this helps.

Yes! They can cary rabies and fight ferociously. Call pest control if it is too close, or just stay inside until it goes away. Keep pets away, too if you have any. Make sure you don't leave garbage/food items/pet food out where it can attract them.
