A poem I wrote about 7 years ago explains my position:

Enough is Enough.

When you dream of riches and glory,
Just stop and ask yourself,
If you really had a small fortune,
Would you also have fame and wealth?

For wealth and fame are not the same,
And gold does not make heroes,
For money is but a little more
Than one with lots of zero’s.

As wealth does not equate with health,
The same for glory and fame,
It’s best to have lived an honest mans life,
Than to end up with a bad name.

So to live a long and healthy life,
And spend your old age in clover,
All you need is to have enough -
With just a little bit over.

A few thoughts.
Start with the basics. Are you or your children in danger? If you are then you need to change the situation to remove that danger.
Next, is it stressful? Stress is caused by uncertainty, so when your husband comes home are you frightened? You should not be frightened when he comes home, you should be happy. Many ladies (and men) struggle with whether or not to leave their terrible spouse.
Lastly, is your husband financially responsible? This doesn't mean being rich or earning a lot. It means does he gamble or drink or take illegal drugs or spend his money imprudently; or does he use most of his money for the family (house, kids, modest car) and leave a bit for himself for a magazine or hobby.
I'm not a social worker, and please, if you find some of these strike a chord with you, then you should seek advice from some such as your parents.

I think we need more to go on ... but I'm guessing if you are thinking enough is enough ... then it is ENOUGH.

sometimes it depends on how much you can take or give out so when does one reach that breaking point is when they decide to walk the other way and you can see that both had enough.
someone has to be the adult and decide that it not worth it and make peace somehow.

When you can't take it any more and you are tired of dealing with whatever it is you are tired of. Some people can take alot of stuff but when you get past that point they will put their foot down. Have your boundries and don't let people step all over you! Good luck and have a great weekend!!!!

When you have to ask that question. Try not to go overboard in your reaction. Just back away slowly and remove yourself from the situation.
