its natural, like tobacco, its mind altering, like alcohol, its addictive to some like both tobacco and alcohol. so whats the difference ?(other than being illegal, but thats not what this question is about)

if it were legalized, would you feel different about it?

in my opinion, the only reason it hasnt been legalized is because the governtment makes too much money off it be illegal. remember, alcohol was illegal once too.....

oh i totally agree that it would have to be regulated and treated like any substance that can be abused, like if you are driving while on it, you should lose your lisence like you should if you're driving while drunk.

I agree, it's all about the money.

There are established corporations which would lose money big time if hemp and marijuana were legalized. Hemp can be used to make clothing and paper and many other products which would put many currently established industries, such as pulp and paper for example, in dire financial jeapardy. And since the multi-millionaire corporations control the government, it will never happen.

It has NOTHING to do with sinning, and everything to do with the pockets of the rich!

i have always thought it should be legalized. it is a plant that grows. and if i can pick it and smoke it, why not? the indians smoked something in that peace pipe years ago, right? well, i think if all the government leaders would get together and just roll a few, pass them around, there might be less wars and more peace. regardless of what people say, pot does not make one violent, you do not hallucinate, or go on to other harder drugs, nonsense! can you just imagine the amount of revenue it would generate if it were legal? we might even be able to fund healthcare for our country!! i mean, if we could get high off smoking a sunflower would a sunflower become illegal? i just don't see how a plant that just grows can be considered illegal.

lztexan - Drinking doesn't change you and you can still work? Are you a complete retard? You're ok with flying on a plane being piloted by someone who is drunk, as long as they haven't been smoking pot?

And for the record I think pot is lame. The argument that alcohol was once illegal has no bearing on the argument. The goverment spends way more money enforcing drug laws and incarcerating people for narcotics violations that it "makes" from pot.

Legalize it, our jails and prisons are filled with related charges, for the pusher, I might say lock him up.
Through the years we have gotten no where on combating drugs, have people pay taxes on it, there would be some control, if it were legalized, it is costly paying for rehab, it is costly paying for someone being locked up, we all pay one way or another,
For years now our government has been paying lipservice to taking a harder stand on drugs, but there are a lot of people employed in Drugs alcohol and tobacco.so a lot of jobs would also be abolished.

We don't need potheads driving
on the roads there dangerous enough already,
If you could count on people to be responsible maybe it would be different. Alcohol leaves the system sooner. Can't do pot I get drug tested at work,(CDL) drink some but know when to quit. Your pleasure shouldn't cause another person pain
Already enough traffic fatalities.

It seems to me like it would be extremely hard to regulate unlike the other two. Thats the one problem. (if you grow it/sell it you should be taxed like everyone else.)
