Ok, this happened to my uncle. He and his brother were relaxing in the basement of their house, and I guess my uncle fell asleep with a lite cigarette in his hand. A little later he was shaken awake by his brother and he calmly said, "Dude, you're on fire" and walked away. I mean, your only sibling is on fire and that's what you do!
Has anyone else seen something so...stupid?

LOL, kind of similar. One time my neighbor and I were camping down in the woods behind our houses. Typical camping trip, Huge Bonfire, Blowing up Aerosol Cans, riding the Fourwheeler around the woods, etc. Once the fire died down, we ended up passing out near the fire. I had a Carhartt jacket on, and at some point during the night, the fire popped sending a decent sized coal onto my back on the jacket. My neighbor heard and saw it and said "There's a coal on your back." And I muttered "Oh, ok", and went back to sleep. The next morning I woke up and found a huge hole in the back of my Jacket from the hot coal that had landed there. Didn't actually set me on fire, but the scenario was similar.

Not as stupid as falling asleep with a lit cigarette in your hand. Not even close. I would have let the fire burn him a little first just to teach his *** a lesson, then I would have dumped a bucket of water on him.

I don't smoke, so I am safe from such things. However, my brother does. If he lit himself on fire due to his colossal stupidity, well, I would do the same. He made his bed, now he can lie in it. Your Uncle should just feel lucky that his brother woke him up!

I sleepwalk at night sometimes. For this time-period during my junior year I was sleepwalking atleast twice a week. Once I woke up naked in my backyard. Another time I woke up with a huge knife in my hand under my pillow. It is kinda freaky. I never saw it happen though.

Well, it's pretty stupid to fall asleep with a cigarette in your hand. You've got to be pretty out of it to fall asleep while smoking.
If he was living in my house, he'd be out on his A$$! His stupidity and lack of consideration for others would putting my life in danger.

ok, i know it doesn't make sense because he's your uncle and ... (insert other reasons here)...
here's a different point-of-view:
- smoking cigarettes kills.
- your uncle smokes though he knows smoking kills.
- falling asleep w/ a lite cigarette is one way smoking kills.
- your other uncle woke his brother up to make sure he (the uncle that smokes) knew inhaling isn't the only way cigarettes kill smokers, their families & friends.
the incident did nothing to convince your uncle who smokes to quit, did it? (sigh)
