i bought a "professional" series corded trimmer from WAHL. I use it for everything - my head, chest, under arms...
I would suggest using one of the plastic guards on the trimmer when you use it on your "private parts" to prevent nicking your skin - but it does mean that you will be left with some short hair. I've nicked a few times... It does not feel good.
You could use it without the plastic guard, but be careful.
