Nine Eleven...
I was late for work AGAIN and when I arrived at Rockefeller Center I saw a big crowd watching a t.v. screen in the train terminal on my way up to work. I was so annoyed that they were all standing there and in the way. When i got upstairs to my job, people were crying and listening to the radio. I was such an ignorant fool. A huge crowd of us eventually left work and we all walked many many miles to the bridge that took us back to the Bronx or whatever other boroughs people were from.

They say everyone remembers what they were doing when Kennedy was assassinated - I.cant!!

9/11 was the most terrible thing I have ever seen. I still get upset when they show the harrowing sights on TV. Went to see United 93 and found that very difficult to watch.

Death of Princess Diana - I was flicking though channels looking for The Waltons and getting annoyed 'cos there was only news

Sept 11th - watching the second plane hit on the news and realising instantly that the first hadn't been an accident

I'm afraid I can remember Kennedy's assassination and Lennon's murder. For the first, I remember my mother crying in the kitchen when she heard the news ( we all thought Kennedy was wonderful in those days), then the BBC cancelling programmes and playing solemn music by Grieg. When I heard that Lennon had been shot, I was driving along in my car, and was so stunned I drove right past my turning and then just stopped and sat in shock.

9/11 - i was sat at work and got a call from my mum saying there had been an incident involving the twin towers, and things didn't seem right.

the web was virtually frozen, so i found some batteries for my portable tv just in time to see the second tower hit, and then collapse.

911 did it for me, I remember feeling helpless, scared, and all alone. it took me a long time to move past this. We as Americans felt a false sense of safety in our country and its ability to protect us. All that shattered on 911

9/11 - I was just waking up and I turned on the TV something I didn't normally do, while I was making coffee and my mum called and told me to watch and I watched all day long on my knees in front of the telly...

JFK - Was before my time...

I WAS IN THE 10TH GRADE AND AT SCHOOL THAT MORNING. IT WAS 10:22, RECESS, AND I WAS WORKING IN THE STUDENT STORE WHEN OUR PRINCIPAL MADE THE ANNOUNCEMENT OVER THE LOUD SPEAKER. EVERYONE WENT SILENT AND MANY, LIKE MYSELF, STARTED CRYING. HE WAS THE YOUNGEST MAN TO BE ELECTED PRESIDENT AND SOME SAW HOPE IN HIS PRESIDENCY. THE GENERATION GAP WASN'T SO WIDE. I THINK HE WAS 34 OR 35 WHEN HE DIED. TOO YOUNG, FOR ANY PERSON WITH SUCH A POSITIVE FUTURE IN FRONT OF HIM, TO DIE. VERY, VERY SAD DAY.
