Volleyball in the off season. Definitely. You jump a lot in the sport so it builds up great leg strength and endurance. Really gets you into what I like to call "Team sport mode". I run track late in the season so its hard transitioning from an individual team sport to a team sport. If you're open in the spring, run track, it builds up amazing endurance. As far as grades go, you need to focus more on your school work than sports. I know how hard it is on those Tuesday night away games when you don't get home til midnight, but you have to keep your grades up. Becoming academically ineligible is horrible. Do your homework on the bus, before the game, or whenever you have time. If you have the option, schedule a study hall during your seasons. Worked for me!

hey mqueenie i asked a question and got this as an answer, maybe it will help you.

As a coach, I recommend doing something competitively away from basketball. Tennis is also a good sport because it is similar to basketball in athletic movements. In tennis, you do a lot of shuffling, back pedalling, side to side movements...as in basketball. It will only improve your footwork and quickness. Also, sometimes it is good to get away from your 'main' sport for awhile....otherwise you can feel burnout and boredom. You can still do things with a basketball like ballhandling and shooting during tennis season. The individual aspect of tennis is also a good builder of mental toughness and learning about yourself, winning and losing. Playing another sport or two will not hurt your chances of becoming a better basketball player. Sitting around doing nothing at all during the summer is what will not help your skill level.

i hope this will help you!
love you twin!

I think Volleyball would be the best "other" sport for you to play as it includes teamwork and the NEED to stay involved in the game at all times. As for some drills, here's one that should help a lot. (you'll need two friends and two basketballs.) Starting at the right-hand side of the free throw line, shoot a jump shot. Immediately after landing, move to the lower block and have one friend - stationed at the other side of the free-throw line pass you the other basketball. Take a short-range jumper from the low block and move back to the top of the free-throw line at the right side. The second friend has rebounded your first shot (hopefully) and passed the ball to your first friend at the other side of the free-throw line. Do this for a minute then switch to the left hand side of the free-throw line. Do the same shooting drill from this side for another minute. Then shoot jumpers back and forth across from corner to corner of the lane for a third minute. (Actually, all three of you can participate for a minute each on each side - the total drill takes 9 minutes to complete.)

My initial sense of you is that you're lazy.

I'd go for female golf. There's more dough there with the emergence of Michelle Wie, Paula Creamer, Morgan Pressel and many others.

Being great at golf takes a tremendous amount of practice and dedication. Are you up to it? I doubt it. Winners don't spend time on internet chatrooms at your age. They're out practicing their sport until the sun goes down instead of typing BS about how great they are.

Princess, I honestly wish that I could give you some hope. Unfortunately there's nothing there. I'm certain that your coaches see the same thing. You've limped over to Yahoo! after they chewed out your fat a$$.

At least you have enough balls to post on the internet. In ten years I see you sitting on your size forty making telemarketing calls IF you can avoid meth.

I coach soccer at the the local YMCA, and most of my soccer players play basketball. Soccer helps build footwork and stamina (Steve Nash NBA MVP plays soccer), and its a perfect sport to tune your seed and ability in basketball. If not soccer, try Volleyball because when u jump it increases ur vertical jump the more you play. U cant go wrong with either sport.

Hope this helps.
