Animals really do dream. I think there are some scientific studies that show this. But anyone can see that they dream, just by watching them sleep. I have seen cats and dogs twitching, as though they are running across the fields chasing things, or even smiling as if they are dreaming of being petted or happy to be with their favorite person or animal friend. I also have no doubt that they get bored. There are many cases of animals getting bored, they pick up some repetitive, nearly neurotic, habits. Birds exhibit strange, idiosyncratic behaviors when caged up with no external stimuli. Dogs will lick their paws or other parts of their body until there is no hair left there. I have seen bored animals pacing back and forth, as in a zoo cage, tracing the same route again and again. It's sad to see; something should be done about it, provide them with more space, interesting things to do and companionship.

Yes, they dream! Scientists proved that I think by monitering their brainwaves or something.
They can also get bored. If you want proof, take horses. When they have to stay in their stalls for too long they will start cribbing, chewing on things, begging for attention when people walk by...anything they can find to do for fun. Dogs and cats get the same way. Thats why cats sometimes start attacking their owners ankles for no reason lol. The owner gets really mad but really its their fault for not giving the cat enough attention and playing with it. It's just bored!

Yes, they do dream. As for boredom it depends on the mental strength of the animal, for instance, the smarter breeds of dog such as collies can get very bored and even frustrated.

both - I know cats do. They are really funny to watch when they are dreaming because their faces and whiskers twitch, nerves tense and loosen and tails swish. When they're bored, they look around for something to do just as we do!
