I once had a new hire who would quietly make snide comments about me getting into the office late. How did I solve it? Well, I was usually late because I traveled a bunch and my plane would often get delayed leaving LaGuardia. It wasn't uncommon for me to get home at midnight or later. So one morning, as I was on my way from from O'Hare airport at 2 a.m. I called that new hire. Told her where I was, what I'd been doing and that I needed some information first thing the next morning so she shouldn't be late. I was at my desk the next morning at 8 a.m. as she dragged in. She works elsewhere now.
