Bruce Lee is by far the greatest athlete that has ever lived. I would say that the sport that requires the most athleticism is fighting. This would include martial arts, or boxing, or anything like that. If you don't believe me, try spending 3 minutes punching a punching bag as hard as you can without stopping. So, in my opinoin, fighting is the most grueling sport. And, in the world of fighting bruce lee was light years above other people. For instance, he is the only person in the world to have broken a hanging board. Let me explain. Normally, it is hard enough to break a board that someone is holding, but when it is hanging in mid air by a rope, you have nothing pushing against you when you make contact with it. To break a hanging board, you have to kick it so hard, and so precisely, and so quickly, that it breaks even though nobody is holding it. That's incredible. Secondly, he is renowned for the "one inch punch", which was basically that he could send a man flying from punching him, although his fist would start only an inch away from the man's body. Thirdly, in ALL of his movies, screen casts, etc...they had to slow down the footage because he would move to fast for the frame. If you think is bs, try and find footage of him when he was interviewed, at the beginning of his career. In one of these interviews, they ask him to show what he can do. You literally cannot see his hands moving. all you can see is where his hand starts, and where is hand ends. basically, bruce lee is the most ridiculous athlete i have ever heard of, and he has done things that nobody has ever done, and probably will never do.

Depends on the sports we're talking about, is not fair to say a football athlete is the best of all. We can say Michael Jordan is the best basketball athlete or Wayne Gretzky the best hockey athlete. It all depends on the sport and also take into factor the past athletes to the new modern athletes. I'm sure we all have our opinions, I just love sports in general and I appreciate a talented athlete. They are the reasons why we watch and enjoy sports.

One could mention Babe Dickrickson Zaharias, who was a two-sport champion (golf and tennis, I believe) in the 30s. Or Bob Matthias, who won the decathalon twice in a row (Daley Thompson did it in the 80s, I believe, but during the US and USSR boycotts).

Michael Jordan was (and still better than me, I'm sure) very, very good at many, many different sports. Very athletically talented.
