I have a 93 civic where the steering wheel disengages from the steering rack. Any idea what the prob is?

Sounds like the rack and pinion has worn beyond limits.
Possibilty that the mounting brackets for the rack maybe loose or the steering shaft mounts maybe also loose. Check 'em first before pulling the entire assembly

Bad rack and pinion. The part costs about $300. Nothing else to do but replace it there is no adjustment.
