yeah-- and it's the best thing that's ever happened too me. it'll happen too you too. the person i fell in love with, -became- my best friend, so it's a little different too i guess.
my cousin has fallen for her best guy friend-- and she told him, and he doesn't like her back but they're still better than ever. just let him know-- and i'm sure things should be okay. if he's mature and a true best friend-- he'd understand and wouldn't let something like that ruin your guys' friendship you know? just take a chance. you never know until you try, so give it a shot. best of luck sweetie!!!!!

Go watch that movie When Harry Met Sally again.
They were best friends and then changed to lovers and then their friendship was destroyed. But in the end they found that they were better together than anyone else.
They took things slowly and then realized that sex changes a relationship, but in the end if the friendship was strong then they will always be able to work things through. The key is communication and of course compromise for a long term relationship to exist. Having a friendship first is always a good idea before moving to boyfriend/girlfriend as it lays a basis for good communication.
Just take things slowly and see if others can fit the boyfriend role. After dating others and remaining friends with this guy you will be able to decide for yourself. Having close and loving feelings for your male friend is natural but you are right in not wanting to lose your best friend by changing it to a boyfriend situation. Let things develop and the two of you will determine if your friendship will develop beyond that.

well it can...the trick is to try really desperately to make absolute sure they like you. then you have to ask them out but upon asking them out say, "whether you say yes or no, we will always be friends"
