The true God is the Cosmos -- all beings, all things.

Religions understand almost **nothing** about God. Their gods are long-dead ghosts of human men dressed up in mythology and superstition.

RJ comes close. To define God with reference to religion takes more space then we are allowed here. Each religion has its own definition. So to define God in those terms you must begin with the religion which is utterly ridiculous because each has formulated a definition of the Deity they worship in the context of their life experiences. This is much the same as the blind men attempting to describe an elephant while touching only one part. Of course they are all wrong, as, I suspect are all religions in the final analysis. According to my belief (religion?) God has said, "I am." Therefore my belief is that God Is.

According to Vedas, God (Brahman) is described as follows:

This Supreme Cosmic Spirit is regarded to be eternal, genderless, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent, yet indescribable. It can be at best described as infinite Being, infinite Consciousness and infinite Bliss. It is regarded as the source and sum of the cosmos, that constricted by time, space, and causation, as pure being, the "world soul" which also can take many forms or manifestations of the thousands of Hindu gods. It was deemed a singular substrate from which all that is arises, and debuts with this verse:

"Great indeed are the devas who have sprung out of Brahman." — Atharva Veda

This should answer your question.

It is impossible (and blasphemous) to accurately define God in an kind of references. Any attempt would be both wrong, disgraceful, and could never do justice to the awesomeness which the deity so rightfully deserves.....

Saying that, here is my definition:
God- (Proper noun/title) The most powerful of all imaginable living beings.

God is an ultimate power that takes different forms with each religion.

Religion is more or less the set of rules that give structure to a persons belief in that ultimate power.

God is the First Cause, the Author of all things, the Supreme Being who has always existed and always will exist. He is also known as the Creator.

God is someone who will be there for you at your best and at your worst. God is there even when you have your doubts. He is there you just have to look around for him and accept him into your life.
