Gene Pitney originally sang it, but I really don't know if he performed in bars and night clubs around Toronto. It's possible! The Cars later recorded it too.

One of my most favorite 60's songs. The title is...Cara Mia by Jay & The Americans. They had several good songs from that time and I have them all on cd now!

I don't know about the word 'Mine', but Jay and the Americans sang a song called "Cara Mia", in which they say "Cara Mia, WHY....must we say goodbye"

Jay (Black) and the Americans. Who sang the earlier hit in the 50's. Robert something (not Merril). It was a instrumental hit by Montavoni prior to the vocal.
