Now that I have your attention: I think Bush BELIEVES, truly believes that he is "saving" humanity by forcefully advocating the existence of democratic governments in non-democratic states. As a former(?) alcoholic and drug addict, he fell into the classic co-dependent roles. Perhaps he is attempting, in his mind, to rescue the world. HOWEVER, only one person can save the world, and it is not Bush. The "Anti-Christ" role is defined by one who claims to be a false profit, to be the savior of the world, but his actions lend to the destruction of the world. Most people know that you cannot save anyone who will not save themselves. You can do everything in your power to promote that change short of controlling the person's actions. Bush is using direct to control to force the change in government format. He is the "rescuer", who has unwittingly become a victimizer. I think he will believe he is that rescuer until he removes himself from the picture, and looks at what he's done.

I think your question is very well-stated. I agree with you & think you're really onto something with that analysis of codependency & self-appointed savior to the world. He doesn't realize that because democracy is valuable common sense to him doesn't mean it's going to automatically click & make sense in parts of the world where democracy has never existed, and is a foreign idea that many people associate (negatively) with the U.S. and things they don't like about us.

I see the parallels you're drawing, and they've crossed my mind before, too, but I don't think he's the Anti-Christ. I think he's just a flawed human being who means well and acts wiith a good heart & pure motivation (except when it comes to money, then he's just a greedy rich guy with no concept of how middle & lower classes live) and thinks this is the way to create peace & better people's lives. He does the wrong thing for the right reason...but it's still the wrong thing.

p.s. Sci Nerd asked this question in an intelligent, thought provoking way, and instead of answering it as such, some of you would rather just dismiss her as a hater acting on groundless suspicion to avoid having to evaluate whether or not Bush's actions are just. You know, one of the great things about democracy is the right to question, to discuss, and to express opinions and objections about the leader's decisions. Even some of his strongest supporters on Capitol Hill have taken a step back to distance themselves because they don't want to be mistaken as approving of some of his more radical moves, but yet people here would rather insult someone for asking the question than to answer in a way that defends or justifies Bush's acts. Hmmm...I wonder why...maybe because there is no justification ... or maybe because as you accuse Sci Nerd of blindly criticizing without reason, in reality you are blindly believing without reason and without evaluating the righteousness of the leader?

In some sense you may/might be right...but if Bush has the capacity to love deeply and clearly he does (his wife and children) than he's following the word of Christ, right? Yes he's weilding his power and molding policy that may/might be lending to the destruction of the world, but that alone doesn't make the guy the Anti-Christ. Additionally, he doesn't have absolute power which is a requisite for the Anti-Christ...he simply weilds what little power the US still has and manipulates it well enough to get his agenda through. PEACE!

I have a different view, you are looking at the situation at a very personal level.
If you were the ruler of a super power in a hypothetical world similar to our own, what would your motivations be? What is your responsibility as the "CEO" as it were of your country? It would be to protect your citizens, maintain your status of a world power, economic growth and protection of your strategic interests. I believe the current President is driven by these forces that influence the actions taken in the world scene.

The actions he takes are not done on a whim, they are done after serious consultations with his various advisers. He believes these actions are undertaken in the best interests of the country he is sworn to serve and protect. These actions are not without risks and I am sure the risks were carefully analyzed and deemed acceptable.
He isn't trying to "rescue" anyone.

Read the book Bushit! By Jack Huberman An A-Z Guide to the Bush Attack on Truth, Justice & the American Way. (Nation Books)
He has done more harm to women, children, middle & lower income people, & more for big business. Taken safeguards away, is still eroding Roe vs Wade, till there will be no support for women at all.
I do believe he is the Anti-Christ

You call yourself Sci Nerd? Why not label yourself a bit more realistic like crackpot liberal or commie commando? To begin with, Bush is not trying to save the world, he is attempting to make intelligent decision that have a positive outcome for the USA. Is he making the greatest decisions of any presidential or military leader? In hindsight it's easy to say no. But then of course I am willing to bet that I can pick apart your every decision and break it down to it's emotionally charged, regurgitated liberal vomit BS which it is! As to the Anti-Christ bit....are you truly a moronic idiot or do you only write like one?

I hope the Muslims take over and you as a women are forced into being a slave. You have no concept of the world. You believe that peace and a handshake will stop people from being mean. Grow up. Those people want to kill you and the USA. Not because of Bush. BUT because we are a CHRISTIAN nation.

It is so easy to sway the believers of God, and thus politicians play the religion card so perfectly. No individual can hold an official position of power unless he/she says "Jesus Christ is my savior." Hollywood does exactly the same thing. Religion is such an easy tool to exploit, you might as well try it sometimes.

YES, I'm always saying Bush is the anti-christ, he'll unite people for what they precieve to be a good and just cause but then destroy us. He's a liar, deciever, and manipulator, I'm not christian and don't believe in the anti-christ of the bible, but Bush is def. something!!

No, he is a Christian. The Antichrist will come on the scene right after the rapture of the church. Most people believe he will be from the middle East.

Thats just it, he got over all that, and personally i think hes doing a magnificent job. And its funny that you criticize him for "trying to save the world" but people just like you criticize him for not doing his job and technically that is his job, save the world, thats what the president does, they help resolve conflicts before the world needs saving, so yes, he does save the world. Now i suggest you think out your truly contradictory statement beofre you go a spout off your theories to your propaganda following liberal friends.
