If you dropped a led ball from the top of the former World Trade Center towers 1 or 2. How long would it take to hit the ground?? In a Vacume?? What would be the Terminal Velocity at sea level??
The official time the towers fell in the 911 commision report was 10 seconds. Is there a formula to figure out or estimate closely how much resistance the top floors above the impact point would have met on the way down verses resistance of air? Also note in the video the buildings fell at approx 10 seconds as well. How is this possible??

The reason the World Trade Center towers fell so fast were from the assisting explosions which were heard by many observers. As the towers fell, explosions blew the floors under the falling debris and not to mention how the towers fell straight down. Ever see a video of a building getting demolished by explosives? Well, compare the videos from 9-11 to some of those controlled demolitions. You'll have a different view on the situation.

The WTC were about 420 meters tall, however the planes hit at about 330 meters up in one building and at about 365 meters up in the other.

Free fall at 330 meters would take about 8.25 sec and free fall at 365 meters about 8.5 sec.

I don't know the structural details of the building. Supposedly, they should have been able to withstand the impact of a 707 searching for the airport in the fog. While a 767 isn't that much bigger than a 707, there's a lot of difference in the speed of a 707 looking for the airport and the speed of a 767 looking to inflict as much damage as possible. The kinetic energy from the collisions was about 7 times greater than the buildings were designed to withstand.

"Controlled explosives", "Look at the way the building came down."

How do you all expect a steel structure that weighs that many tons that just got hit by a 747 towards the top to collapse? Do you all actually think it would fall over like a tree?

No, it would crumble floor by floor from the weight on the top where the plane hit, just like you saw on T.V. Just like it DID.

As for the "explosions heard as it collapsed," last time I checked anything that big that falls is not silent. Not to mention there are probably many things in such a building that can cause an explosion as it falls, perhaps gas lines and such.

All objects, regardless of weight, if dropped will take the same time to reach the ground; ignoring air resistance or course. Therefore, a feather and a steel ball if in a vacuum will reach the ground at the same time. Just physics.

A lead ball would take about 9 seconds to reach the ground (assuming 12ft per floor). As far as resistance the floors would have, I don't think there's a specific formula - there are too many variables.
