It is internal mechanism to over come there weakness and internal fears . Each one of us has 3 set of personalities inside us "the parents" based on the rules and the principle our parents gave us , the child "the funny rebellious children" against those principles and "the adult" who is logical and make decision not on emotions or imposed principle . The break away is like the act of the "the rebellious child" to show the discomfort and overcome the "parental control" . if you are a parent or the child yourself you should read material about PCA . It helps understand and manage relationship with people.

The question of a lifetime for every child. Under mom and dad, there are rules for everything, curfews, groundings, "no" answers, etc. You hate living under such dictatorship, its unfair, and your life just plain sucks. You know what is best for you, after all you made it this far, and hey just how hard can life on your own really be! Youve got the "answers" to all lifes ups and downs and you know you can do it! Now if life would only cooperate with you and every kid before you, wearing the same shoes, life would be perfect. Unfortunately, we do not live in that world otherwise it would be run by kids. So, until that "real" world arrives, kids will just have to live with plain mean ole mom and dad in their humdrum boring worlds with stupid rules til the time comes they can finally leave home. The day after they leave, every kid wishes he could be home again under mom and dads rules when life as bad as it seemed then really were the good old days. Dont be in a hurry to grow up and leave home, its a mean and dark world out there and you will be there soon enough so enjoy living at home and with what you have. Good luck

They are annoying, nosey, strict, and lecture too darn much. Most parents are overprotective, and want to control every part of your life. When you break away, you have a choice in how your life goes, and thats better than being controlled. No one likes to be controlled.

Cause they're growing up and are hungry to experience things on their own, like making their own decisions.
It's all a part of growing up or we would all be 45 and still living with our parents with no urge to learn responsibilities.

Because they want to experience life on their own terms , with their peers and find out who they are. They need to form an identity separate from anyone else.
