They were bad boys.
Whether or not his mother was a bad mother for letting him wonder off and not noticing is another question.
However back to the bad boys: they're about my age. That's scary, not only because of how cruel they were at such a young age, but because it means they could be the random strangers I meet tomorrow, the people sitting next to me on the train, the guys I'm sneaking peaks at across the room. No one knows..

If a child of 10 is capable of killing another person in the manner that these two did, that child is severely mentally ill, because it lacks a conscience.
Psychopathic behaviour means that there is a lack of conscience. How did the psychiatrists go about instilling one in these two young men? Can they prove that this conscience is now instilled, beyond a shadow of a doubt?
I question the integrity and the ethics of the board of psychiatrists who signed the documents which led the prison authorities to release them.
I doubt that those psychiatrists would allow either one of these young men to live with them or to babysit their children.
Is this some sick experiment on the part of the psychiatrists?
What if the law held them accountable for their decision? Meaning that if either one of the men ever kills again that the psychiatrists would have to serve a life sentence as well, for enabling their freedom? Perhaps then their judgement would be tempered by a real sense of responsibility.
Both young men would have been better kept in a secure unit for the rest of their natural lives. They took another human life, in the pursuit of sadistic pleasure. I would hazard a guess, that emotionally immature as one is at age ten, one still knows it is wrong to kill another human being, even if one does not fully understand the implications as to why it is, and the idea is repugnant. If the boys involved had not known it was wrong to do what they did, they would have attempted to kill the child in full view of everyone. So, they did know right from wrong, they just didn't have a conscience, a moral center, which prevented them from harming and then killing this child.
I cannot put into words how sorry I feel for James' parents, who naturally thought that justice would serve them.

I agree that since it was an adult crime they should be tried as adults. Anyone who takes a life, no matter how old they are when they do it, should be treated the same as all murderers.
These days the justice sysem in this country is a joke.
As for allowing prisoners out early - don't get me started. I think if you are sentenced to 20 years then you should serve not a days less than 20 years etc.
If the prisons are too overcrowded then maybe its time we brought back the death penalty.

i used to think oh my god but they were children too. Now im a parent, older and wiser and the little f**kers should be shot for their crime - it is an offence against humanity that cold-blooded murderers, ie no self defence or other mitigating circumstance should be allowed to live. I would do the deed myself if the job existed (ie executioner not vigilante). A psycopath has no conscience, so no guilt or remorse except where it impacts their own life, and will always be a danger. We are told that we are a species that nurtures our children, and 99.9% of us do, but if a child is born into the world and then goes against our deeply held moral views, then they are no longer entitled to exist. Godsake, folk go to jail for not paying a fine, and these little sods do some time and then are protected for the rest of their miserable existance. They slaughtered an innoncent toddler.
I hope they are reading this, because one day they will be found by some other lone nutter who will wreak their own sick justice.
I apologise for the angry tone, but hey ......

I believe in a life for a life....and they should not of been allowed to be released...they are sickos...they deserve the same fate as the child....I hate violent and thoughtless people...
bring hanging back and stop the media in my opinion glamourising b*****ds who do s**t things to innocent people...
the law needs a shake up and the murderers and really bad people of the world should be really punished for their actions, innocent people deserve a more carefree world...
with todays DNA etc things are better to catch criminals and so if the law changed maybe the b*****ds would think before taking a life on purpose..

Stupid British Judicial system, they will go free, and probably be given more from the government than a law abiding person ever will. They should be found in the gutter of some country after receiving the same treatment

What happened to Jamie Bulger was truly devastating.
I too hope someone finds those s***'s
They should have spent at least sometime in adult jails. Apparently, they were scared.
Not as scared as little Jamie, I bet.

Tragic. All the more so because of the age of the murderers. Chilling to think they could do that, wonder what was going on in their lives to make them that way.

Sick. the boys who did this were kept in a prison in Doncaster near where I used to live. My ex used to work there. They were sick puppys. they should still be locked up.
Aparently the one called Venebles, is a psycopath.
