I agree. Without racism and discrimination, this world would be a better place for people like you and me.

Racism - any unfair preference for one race over another.

If someone has a reasonable and fair thought out preference for their own race over another, does that make them racist?

Here is my racism test: Pretend you are a white father and your child suddenly becomes VERY sick. You kid is going to die if you don't rush him to the hospital right away. As you are speeding in your car you remember that the nearest two hospitals are exactly the same distance away but in opposite directions. One hospital has a high affirmative action rate for minorities. The other does not.

You now have a interesting choice. You know that due to affirmative action, it is possible (But VERY unlikely) that an unqualified minority doctor was hired over a more qualified white doctor simply because of his race. Even if only one doctor out of every hundred was hired this way, would you take the chance of getting that unqualified doctor?

Of course, most people would go to the non-minority hospital if it was the same distance away. But how about if the non-minority hospital were an extra 5 miles away? Would you still go? How far would the hospital need to be out of the way before you would risk leaving your child with an unqualified doctor of any race?

So as you can see, racism is a pretty tricky label. Just because someone prefers one race over another does not mean they are racist if that person has a good reason for his judgment.

well I'm not racist but i guess i do prejudge from time to time against some people until i get to know them. I guess that's due to stereotypes engraved in my brain, but you live and learn right. I don't think racism will ever stop because people are always hating on others and some people can't or wont accept differences.
There is a song called "war" by the great Bob Marley, and that pretty much explains my views.

Well the thing is i think that on the inside people are all the same. Bad, good, shy, sly, The thing is however i feel that i am attracted to a certain race more than i am to another. That doesn't mean that im racist because i won't treat the other girl worse because i am not attracted to her. There is no reason to be racist. If you are, you really are a dumb ****.

Every single time there is a question about race, somebody always has to say something negative about black people. As far as I'm concerned most people on here are racist and are just to "scared" to admit it. That's why most African-Americans do generally think of white people as being scared. Things are said or done in a subtle way, but not out in the open. The one example of a "white dad" taking his hurt kid to the doctor where "affirmative action" made it possible for most black doctors on that staff to be incompetent. WTF?????? But these kind of remarks happen time and time again, but then most white people want to come in on a forum like this and say, "I'm not prejudice"? Yeah ...ok...whatever! LOL

I don't consider myself a racist but the feeling that I'm constantly an ambassador for my race makes me nervous to be around people of other races. I don't have anything against them but I really wish my parents hadn't taught me that people will always see my skin color first and thus I have to act perfectly whenever I leave the house. It's very stressful and makes it difficult for me to make friends outside my race. I do recognize this as a personal problem and I'm making an effort to correct it but all the people that make posts bashing my race doesn't exactly make it easy for me to feel less pressured by society to be perfect in society.

I don't like to think of myself as racist, but in all honesty I think EVERYONE is racist to a degree. I'm afraid it is inescapable. I am very open-minded and sensitive to minority issues and do my very best to NOT be "ist" about anything. BUT, I know that it's in there hiding from me and it usually takes someone from the discriminated against group to show it to me because we I can't even see it due to the fact that there is a degree of racism in me.

Although I do not consider myself racist I do know somebody that is.

The reason he is racist is mainly due to his upbringing. He was brought up in an era where non-Caucasian people were portrayed negatively on television and in society and he has been unable to adjust to changing attitudes.

i am going to make a couple of comments here that i know people will be offended by, but you asked. i am not racist against every race. i love black people, hispanic people, asian people, everyone except middle eastern. i guess it has to do with my family being military. my brother was killed in iraq by an extremist group. now, i know that they are not all like this, i just cant help but look at them and see the people who killed my brother. wrong, yes. but i cant help it.
