Information from existing businesses about your payment history with them. It doesn't need to be detailed, more along the lines of "She pays her bills on time."

This would be as opposed to "personal references", like family and friends. "Trade references" are business contacts that have worked with you professionally and can competently speak of your credentials on the job.

Wholesalers; Distributors; Jobbers whom you have open accounts with, or have and are still doing business with.
